Fernando Duarte was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the age of nine he began his ballet training at Dalal Achcar Dance Academy and later at the Maria Olenewa Municipal School of Dance. In 2008, Duarte attended The Harid Conservatory Summer Intensive, where he won a full scholarship for the academic year. He studied at The Harid Conservatory for two years. During this time, Duarte won several awards including the prize for Excellence in Dance Performances by Jennot Cerrone and an award dedicated to the dancer who most improved during an academic year. He has worked with such notable artists as Dalal Achcar, Marisa Estrella and Janice Botelho in Brazil, as well as Svetlana Osyieva, Victoria Schneider, Olivier Pardina, and Mark Godden at The Harid Conservatory. Duarte joined the Jacqueline Kennedy School at American Ballet Theatre, under the direction of Franco De Vita and Raymond Lukens, on full scholarship in 2010.
