Melissa Hamilton

Melissa_HamiltonBorn in Belfast, Northern Ireland, she trained there at the Jennifer Bullick School of Ballet until age 16. After training privately with Masha Mukhamedov, she won the Youth American Grand Prix in 2007 and that year joined The Royal Ballet, promoted to Soloist in 2010 and to First Soloist in 2013.

Her repertoire includes Juliet, Mary Vetsera, Raven Girl, Sugar Plum Fairy and Rose Fairy (Nutcracker), Terspichore (Apollo) Lead Couple (Agon) Youngest Sister (Las Hermanas), Olga (Onegin), Pas de Trois (Swan Lake) Lead Shade (La Bayadere) 4th Movement Female (Requiem) and roles in Fool’s Paradise, 24 Preludes, DGV : Danse à Grande Vitesse, Tryst, l’Invitation au Voyage, Sensoriumand Chroma. She has created roles in Infra, Limen, Carbon Life, Acis and Galateaand Trespass (Metamorphosis : Titian 2012)

She was awarded the Critics’ Circle Outstanding Female Classical Performance 2009.
