David Ward

David Ward, born in Lewisham, England, joins BalletMet for his fourth season. Prior to coming to BalletMet, Mr. Ward trained at the English National Ballet School, and spent five years dancing with Northern Ballet in Leeds, England. Mr. Ward’s career highlights include touring across mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Thailand, as well as dancing for Prince Edward. He was also a guest performer in Las Vegas for a Victoria’s Secret event in 2011. After eight years of performing in Dracula, Mr. Ward was finally given the opportunity to play the title role in the BalletMet’s production last season. He also got to spend last season working closely with acclaimed choreographer Amedeo Amodio on Afternoon of a Faun. Mr. Ward says that it was an unforgettable experience. This summer he was a guest performer at the National Choreographer’s Initiative for their tenth anniversary performance. He has also spent the last two summers dancing with Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance in North Carolina. Mr. Ward’s favorite performances include Carmen (Matador Escamillo),Sleeping Beauty (The Prince), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Demetrius), Don Quixote (Basil), La Bayadere(Solar), and the title roles of Hamlet and Peter Pan. Other memorable performances include dancing the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet with BalletMet last season and previously with Northern Ballet, the Cavalier in The Nutcracker, and the Prince in Cinderella. Mr. Ward enjoys traveling and cooking in his free time.
